I never thought that I’d actually ‘backpack’ anywhere, but Robbie and I have found ourselves booked on a flight to Malaga, Spain with no baggage allowance. The funny part of that is that I’m alright with that. Who would have guessed that I’d be able to fit enough clothing/personal items into my little backpack to last me a trip across Spain and France?
Yes, that’s right, we also booked ourselves a Regional Eurail Pass for Spain and France, which gives us 5 days of travel on the European Rail system throughout both countries. We fly via RyanAir (24 Euro tickets!) from Marseille to London on November 17th, but will be exploring France and Spain in the meantime.
The photograph above was taken from the terrace of the Melting Pot Backpacker’s Hostel, in Malaga, where we will be staying for two, possibly three nights (third night was free!) We’re not sure where we’ll go next from there… we will most likely figure that out as we go along. The only thing we care about right now is that the average temperature in Malaga in November is 20 degrees, and the ocean is 17 degrees, which might be suck-up-able because I will have my bathing suit with me!
It looks beautiful! Just think of all the time and faffing you’ll save by not having to collect big luggage… so practical!
You sound so excited, well it is exciting, you are going to have such fun.
*steps out of the shadows*
I’m around. I read when I can.
This looks so exciting! Spain, France, Ireland. You’re getting to see so much. That’s something nice about Europe, so much diversity in a small space. Unlike here in the States and Canada where everything seems so spread out. Which is nice in it’s own right, but a 24 Euro flight wont get you too far.
Have a great time! Can’t wait to see your photos.
(You asked in one of my Flickr comments about the Craft Show–it rained the whole day… and they still held it! I stayed home where it was dry. But they never cashed my check, so it wasn’t such a loss.)
WOW! this is an amazing picture – so beautiful!!
